Hi, I'm

Isaac Sanchez Aguilar

Senior Software Engineer & Founder

7+ years of experience at Google, Meta, and PayPal building products that reach billions of users — across the stack, with most of my recent work on the backend: APIs and services, data modeling, query and cache optimization, observability, and on-call ownership. I like improving everything I touch: performance, costs, architecture, and the team’s developer experience.

About me

I improve everything I touch: performance, costs, architecture, and the team’s experience.

I am a Senior Software Engineer with 7+ years of experience building full-stack systems, backend services, internal developer tools, and high-impact products at Google, Meta, PayPal, and high-growth startups. I currently work on Google’s Marketing Engineering team, after spending over a year building compilers and developer tooling used by YouTube, Search, and Maps.

I am a polyglot by necessity — production code in Python, TypeScript/Node.js, JavaScript, and Hack, plus Java and PHP in production codebases at Google and earlier roles, and C/C++ and Go. Ramping fast on an unfamiliar stack is consistent feedback I get at Google. Much of my work has been in regulated, high-stakes domains: healthcare at Intermountain Healthcare, payments on PayPal’s Checkout platform, and lending at Blend, including on-call ownership of production systems. Agentic development is already how I work: LLM-based coding agents are part of my daily workflow at Google.

In parallel, I am building my own product: an all-in-one SaaS platform for small businesses in Mexico, launching in 2026 — I own the backend end-to-end, from the Postgres data model and payment flows to the WhatsApp integration. I see myself as someone who constantly improves whatever is around me — optimizing performance, reducing costs, proposing scalable and maintainable solutions, and raising the team’s developer experience. Long term, my goal is to keep growing as an IC toward Staff/Tech Lead while building my own software consultancy.

My technical foundation also comes from competitive programming: I was part of the ESCOM-IPN Algorithms Club for 4 years, with multiple appearances at the ICPC Mexico & Central America Grand Prix.

Experience

  1. Dec 2024 – Present

    Google

    Software Engineer L4

    Marketing Engineering

    Jan 2026 – Present

    • Own the full web development cycle of the internal tools that build all of Google’s public marketing pages, alongside a cross-functional team (engineering, design, and marketing).
    • Built and launched the cookie consent bar used across Google’s public marketing properties, reaching billions of users worldwide.
    • Work on accessibility, performance, and large-scale migrations over a vanilla JavaScript stack with internal rendering engines (EJS, Handlebars, and Google-proprietary technology).
    • Participate in planning and decision-making on architecture, new modules, and migrations.

    Compiler & Developer Tooling

    Dec 2024 – Jan 2026

    • Designed and implemented internal compilers and developer tooling for cross-platform languages, driving adoption of Google’s new technology to over 80% of the components in YouTube, Search, and Maps.
    • Built Python automation for iOS performance benchmarking that auto-generated reports and comparisons in Google Sheets; wrote build configuration with Bazel/Blaze.
    • Use LLM-based coding agents daily and build agent-assisted workflows for code analysis, documentation, and recurring engineering tasks — cutting ~30% off my engineering time on automatable work and ~80% off the time spent documenting technical work — and share the resulting patterns and prompts with the team.
    • Collaborated directly with the YouTube, Search, and Maps teams; contributed to recruiting and onboarding new engineers.
  2. Mar 2024 – Oct 2024

    Blend

Software Engineer L4 · Lending Team (Contractor)

Blend powers the entire process of collecting, validating, and analyzing loan and mortgage applications for U.S. banks — thousands of applications a day.

    • Designed and shipped loan products across three families — bank lending, mortgage, and auto — end-to-end, from backend data models, services, and APIs to the frontend.
    • Increased test coverage by 60% and optimized CI times by cleaning up unnecessary data and applying best practices.
    • Delivered knowledge-sharing sessions on engineering best practices.
    • Took part in on-call rotations for production lending systems handling regulated financial applicant data.
  3. May 2023 – Mar 2024

    PayPal

Software Engineer L3 · Checkout Team

PayPal’s checkout is one of the highest-traffic payment flows on the web — the platform processed ~25B payment transactions and $1.5T in payment volume in 2023.

    • Backend work on PayPal’s Checkout GraphQL layer: improved server monitoring and standardized error handling across resolvers, improving checkout error detection and transaction tracking by 60% and cutting false positives.
    • Led the migration of currency and amount handling in the checkout flow to new libraries — a correctness-critical change on a live payments path — detecting and fixing the resulting bugs.
    • Recovered 50% of the functional tests that were broken, restoring the regression signal for the checkout service.
    • Took part in on-call rotations for the checkout platform.
  4. Jan 2022 – May 2023

    Luxoft

Software Engineer L3 · Client: Intermountain Healthcare

Intermountain Healthcare is one of the largest health systems in the U.S. — patient-facing products built in a regulated healthcare environment.

    • Led the migration of 100% of the React Native router in the mobile app, with zero regressions.
    • Designed the application architecture and led the planning and implementation of new modules on web (React) and mobile (React Native).
    • Mentored a team of roughly 10 engineers through code reviews, pairing, and onboarding.
  5. Apr 2021 – Jan 2022

    ArteDigital Software Development

    Software Engineer

    • Built the entire Crediverso product ecosystem from scratch as part of an 8-engineer, 2-PM team — Python backend services and data models alongside the React frontend.
    • Worked directly with clients across engagements — gathering requirements and coordinating with leads and product owners.
  6. Sep 2020 – Apr 2021

    Paxico Technologies

    Software Engineer · Contractor

    • Built full-stack features on a Node.js (Koa) + TypeScript backend with MongoDB, Redis, and Docker, plus React/React Native clients.
    • Fixed Redis cache bugs and reduced the memory usage of a listing module by replacing a heavy virtual-DOM renderer with a sliding-window approach, and mentored teammates.
  7. Jun 2020 – Sep 2020

    Facebook (Meta)

Software Engineer Intern · Ads Team

    • Built backend and end-to-end test coverage in Hack and JavaScript for Facebook Ads flows.
    • Developed internal models for detecting data mismatches across systems.
    • Found and fixed production bugs surfaced through this testing.
  8. Nov 2019 – Jun 2020

    Inmersys

Software Engineer · First formal job

    • Co-built Bioderma’s internal system for managing promotions, sales, and distribution (mobile, web, and backend).
    • Developed NestJS backend services and Vue.js/Quasar frontend features, worked across the Java and PHP parts of the codebase, and refactored toward clean architecture.

Senior Software Engineer · Freelance, in my free time

Side consulting project outside my full-time job: cut payment-system query latency from ~1s to ~100ms through query, index, and schema optimization; built the Datadog observability dashboards the team used to detect and validate those gains; and refactored legacy JavaScript services to TypeScript with onboarding docs that cut ramp-up time by ~75%.

Codeforces Ladders — A2OJ Progress Viewer

Training tool for the competitive programming community, with ~50 daily users from different countries. Search any Codeforces handle and track progress per ladder list and ranking — including the ingestion layer over the Codeforces API, with rate-limit handling, caching, and per-ladder progress computation. New version already finished: offline mode, new stats, accessibility/performance improvements, and React 19 — release coming soon. I’m also designing an AI-driven feature to analyze training progress and weaknesses.
